Airport nightmare turns into a dream come true.
BY FIONA HE
Ever lose your most valuable bag at the airport? I did, and guess what, I got it back. I had had the most wonderful month in France. An experience that is hard to put into words, however, my French romance turned into an airport nightmare.
The plane had boarded and I was ready to hopefully grab a little bit of shut eye, but that wasn’t to be. After showing my passport and ticket to the flight attendants boarding the plane, I went to put my passport in my little blag bag. Well, guess what. No black bag. It was left in the airport. In my frantic state I explained my situation to the EVA AIR flight attendants and, thank god, they allowed me to get off the plane. They even gave me an escort into the airport.
The waiting room was the first place I checked. A thorough search turned up nothing. The bathroom was the next stop. There was a lady who took forever to get out of the stall. I checked and there was nothing. Someone had taken my bag. The flight attendants on the airplane said earlier they would be surprised if I returned with it on my left shoulder.
I exited the bathroom in low spirits. My cell phone was in my bag! So was my identification, all my credit cards and leftover cash. What was I going to do? I looked up and there stood the most neatly dressed EVA Air clerk. Most of the clerks and flight attendants are all young Asian females wearing green dress skirts and dress jackets. I was ready for the bad news.
“Excuse me, we paged you but I guess you didn’t hear us. We’ve got your bag.”
I was so surprised. My bag was found. The clerk took me to the security check. There it was, my beautiful little black bag in all its aging splendor.
She gave me the bag and explained that I had left it at the security check while passing through the metal detector. It was a pain to remember three bags, but I was lucky.
Everything happened so quickly. I also remembered my checked luggage was over the weight limit so instead of paying the extra fees, I removed some of its contents and gave it to my friend for safe keeping. That I forgot, too.
I thanked the woman holding back the tears and quickly boarded the plane. My trip to France had finished on a very high note after all. iT!
