The calm before the storm
A WANDERER’S JOURNAL
TWW #131
BY DON COCHRAN
Hola Mis Amigos and fellow wanderers:
Mark this date down: August 30 – September 11, 2008. This is when I’m fixing to embark on another adventure abroad–this time to Italy. The trip begins on August 29 and the Mosaic School is in the historic city of Ravenna, home of some stunning Byzantine Mosaics. This will be a fine way to spend my vacation.
I will be sending daily or semi-daily updates of my observations of Italy and the Italians, my mosaic school experiences, and my fellow mosaic art school classmates. I have been trying to come up with the right word for someone who makes mosaics: Mosaican?, Mosaicoid?, Mosaitian? Anyway, below is a link to the school and there is a video you can watch and see some examples of what one can do with mosaics if you have the talent, time and experience to make them.

Until next time,
Don
