The Spotlight On Helping Others Overseas

The benefits of serving others overseas.

BY PHILL FELTHAM

I marvel at the people who can strap on their travel boots and cross the border to serve others. This past Sunday, I was finally able to get off my lazy butt to go to church on Sunday. There were a few missionaries who had just come back from the Dominican Republic. They were spreading the word of Christ. There were others leaving, “answering the call” so to speak, to provide help in India and Africa.

Missionaries are also spreading the word in Asia. While I was living in Taiwan, I had the opportunity to speak to a few of them. They said there were many missionaries living in Taiwan spreading the word of Christ. Of course, I didn’t have the heart to tell them that I hadn’t been to church in awhile, but traveling as a missionary is just one way of serving others abroad.

Of course, for non-church goers, there are non-religious ways of serving others overseas. There’s usually a group for every cause that you can think of.
