Did Canadian Survive the Deadly Tsunami?

Diane was traveling in Indonesia at the time the tsunami hit. Her friends and family were very concerned that she might have been one of the victims. Read her experience to find out what happened.

Dear TWW,

Thanks to all those for being so concerned. I’m fine. I’ve been away to the Gillie Islands for a couple days- oh my God, they were gorgeous. I couldn’t help but think of the earthquake and how the island we were on was probably exactly like the other islands destroyed by the waves. So sad.

Friends of mine know people who lived there and by small circumstances survived. One girl our age had family visiting her so they left her home to go elsewhere for a few days and when she went back everything was destroyed. Her friends were either dead or missing. She said only a couple of her friends are okay because they were diving at the time – to think they were at the bottom of the ocean and that was what saved them. We were very lucky.
